Pug Knowledge

The Pug has been referred to as the 'Multum in Parvo' meaning "a lot of dog in a small space." This Breed is even tempered, playful, outgoing, dignified, and possesses great charm. In terms of appearance, symmetry and general appearance are square and stocky. Pugs have fairly short legs and are sturdy and strong.  Pugs range in height between 10-12 inches and can weigh between 14-18 pounds. Pug colors vary from silver, apricot fawn to black. The silver or fawn apricot colors should be decided so as to make the contrast complete between the color, trace and mask. The Pug coat is fine, smooth, soft, short and glossy and neither hard nor woolly. Be aware that Pugs do shed quite a bit. The Pug temperament is an even tempered breed, exhibiting stability, playfulness, great charm, dignity, and an outgoing and loving disposition. The Pug may require more walking or other exercise then other toy dog breeds. Despite their short hair Pugs need to be brushed twice a week to help with shedding. Pugs also can have skin issues arise. Please be aware of the Pugs eyes and be cautious as they can be injured easily since they tend to stick out. They are considered to be a Toy Breed. Pugs are good for any size home or apartment which makes them an excellent choice for all types of families.
